Human and AI skills in Project Management
Reading the summer edition of APM’s Project magazine, the topic of AI is front and centre. But so are human skills.
From my experience over the last 20+ years delivering tech projects/programmes, it is not surprising to see the continued importance of key people skills in project delivery; for instance Communication (39%) and Stakeholder (31%) skills are ranked most important for success by project professionals in the 2026 APM Skills Survey.
Whilst AI becomes more integrated into project roles, I believe that the power of human leadership will become even more important, whether it’s telling your project’s story or actively listening and understanding your stakeholders as people.
